Historical marks of the Holy Archbishopric of Accra
It was established in 1959. In 1992 it was renamed as Metropolis of Cameroon. In September 1997 the Holy Diocese of Ghana was established by Patriarchal decree and included the countries of Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Guinea Bissao and Gambia. On 6th October 2009 by Patriarchal and Synodal decree it was elevated to a Metropolis under the title Holy Metropolis of Accra and West Africa. Today it has jurisdiction in Ghana, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast & Mali.
